Before you trust someone with something as personal as your hairline, I think you should know who is actually behind the work. This page isn’t really about selling you SMP. It’s about introducing myself, sharing how I got here, and showing you what you can expect if you ever sit in my chair.
I want you to know who you’re trusting.
Hair loss is personal. For a lot of the people who contact me, it isn’t simply about wanting a different haircut. They’ve spent months or years thinking about their hairline, crown, scars, thinning areas or how they look in the mirror.
That’s one reason I never wanted Michael Angelo SMP to feel like a place where somebody walks in, gets pushed through an appointment, and becomes the next name on a schedule. I’m the owner and lead artist, and I’m hands-on with the people who trust my studio with their treatment.

I want you to be able to ask questions. I want to understand what bothers you, what kind of result you actually want, and what you absolutely do not want. If SMP is appropriate for you, we build the treatment around your scalp instead of trying to make your scalp fit one standard treatment.
From Dubai back home to Austin.
Part of my SMP journey took me to Dubai, where I had the opportunity to work around and learn from people in the scalp micropigmentation industry. It exposed me to different approaches to hairline design, density and the level of detail that goes into creating a treatment that looks natural on an individual person.
But Austin was home. I missed the trails, being outdoors, the food, the people and the personality of this city. Eventually I came back and built Michael Angelo SMP here.
I didn’t want to build a giant, impersonal operation. I wanted a studio where the person you speak with actually cares about what happens after you leave the chair — how the treatment heals, what stays, what softens, and what we may need to adjust at the next session.
The treatment should look like it belongs to you.
SMP isn’t one hairline, one pigment or one pattern repeated on every person. The work has to make sense for the person sitting in front of me.
I listen before I start.
Consultation matters. We talk about your hair loss, your existing hair, what you want to change, what you want to keep, and what a realistic treatment plan may look like.
I don’t rush the healing process.
SMP is built over treatment and healing. Most treatments average around 2–3 sessions, and I use the way your scalp actually heals to help guide what we do next.
I care about the small details.
Hairline shape, spacing, density, pigment selection and how the treatment transitions into existing hair all matter. Those details are what keep the result from feeling generic.
I’m an artist, but I’m also just a guy who really likes Austin.
When I’m not working, I’m much more likely to be outside, checking out something around Austin, hiking, shooting my bow, finding good food, or doing something that gets me away from the studio for a bit.
I’ve always liked that Austin doesn’t take itself too seriously. There’s live music, trails, Renaissance fairs, tacos, weird little local places and people from completely different walks of life. That mix is part of why I wanted my business here.
I think clients also realize pretty quickly that I’m not interested in giving them a rehearsed sales pitch. We can talk SMP, life, Austin, hair loss, whatever. My job is to make sure you understand the treatment and feel comfortable with the person doing it.
I want the experience to feel personal from the beginning.
There can be a lot of anxiety around SMP, especially if you have never done anything like it before. You might be wondering whether the hairline will look natural, whether the color will match, how healing works, or whether you’re making the right decision at all.
Those are normal questions to bring to a consultation. I would rather you ask me twenty questions before treatment than feel like you have to pretend you understand something you don’t.
Your consultation can be in person or by video. We look at your scalp and talk through the areas that actually need treatment.
Most treatments average 2–3 sessions, usually around 2–3 hours per session. Healing and treatment requirements can vary by client.
We evaluate healing, impressions that retained or softened, and what still needs to be built before calling the initial treatment complete.
A consultation is also your chance to decide whether I’m the right artist for you. Trust matters when the work is this personal.
